Welcome to the AppleÆ Image Disc, the first in a series of photo collections designed for use in your marketing efforts. This CD contains over 100 digital images that you can view, copy to your hard drive and use in advertisements, press releases, brochures or other marketing materials.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
To use the Apple Image Disc, you will need:
*Any Apple MacintoshÆ or PowerBookÆ computer with a 68030 or 68040 processor
*4MB memory
*A CD-ROM drive
*Macintosh CD Setup, version 3.1 or later
*QuickTime[tm] 1.6 system extension
*System software 7.0 or later
VIEWING IMAGES
Simply double-click the ``Lifestyle Vol. I Slide Show'' icon on this CD to load the preview interface. The first image on the disk will appear in the preview window; you can preview the rest of the images by clicking the right or left arrow, using the scroll bar, or clicking on the play button to view them in a slide show.
Each image is displayed with its identification number at the top of the preview window. Make a note of any images you may want to use. When you have finished previewing, you can copy them to your hard drive.
COPYING IMAGES TO THE HARD DRIVE
When you know which images you wish to use, open the ``Images'' folder. Here you will find all of the image files.
Simply match the identification number you saw in the preview window to the last digits of the file name in the ``Images'' folder. For example, to copy image #4, find the file name ``IMG00004.PCD'' in the ``Images'' folder and drag it to your hard drive.
OPENING/PLACING IMAGES
Each image file you copy to the hard drive contains five resolutions that are appropriate for a variety of uses. Whenever you open or place an image file in an application, you will be asked which resolution size you wish to use. Please consult your application manual or a printing professional to determine which resolution will work the best for what you are doing.
Images on the Apple Image Disc are ideal for:
On-screen viewing
Presentations
For placement only (FPO)
Thumbnails
Newspaper ads
Laser printer output
Color printer output
Color film separations
Resolutions available for each image are:
128 x 192 pixels
256 x 387 pixels
512 x 768 pixels
1,024 x 1,536 pixels
2,048 x 3,072 pixels
*NOTE*
*If your software can place or import a Photo CD image (usually at low-resolution), simply place it in your document. But for best results, we recommend opening images in Adobe[tm] Photoshop or Apple PhotoFlash[tm], saving them as TIFF images, and then placing them in your documents.
*Depending on how you use the images, you may need to convert the file to CMYK for printing. Consult your application manual or a printing professional for more information.
